MySpace Concert with Darren Hayes

We arrived more than an hour and a half early and there is standing room only. The stage is set and the audience eager for the Hollywood appearance of Darren Hayes here to promote his new double-disk "This Delicate Thing We've Made". The crowd begins to simmer and our barriers drop as we make new friends... we all know we are on 'the verge of something wonderful'.

When he appears, cries of Woo Hoo's go up - a reverberation of 'Me, Myself & (i)' can be felt. He sits and sips a 'tea infusion thing' yet jokingly requests a JD & Coke, pease. Darren announces he will be performing some of the tunes he sang at his last concert in London, England. I grin; the friends I was with, this eveing were at that concert!

Steve Young, the acoustic guitarist, provides backup and Darren sings and yodels and begs beautifully, sending chills through me. His intensity is Shakespearian, his voice is a precise instrument and I fall in love with his words: temptation taunts - I like the way you move in the dark - the one thing missing is l o v e... a perfect mix of talents.

Finally after the orgasm of music, he takes time to talk to the group. "I know you and your salt water taffy. And you, in the green shirt.. " It turns out Darren takes care for his own MySpace and already has personal relationships with many of his fans that were there at Borders in Hollywood, tonight.

One of my MySpace friends and a long time fan of Darren's, Vivian from Greece, also saw him in London. During the signing of CD's, Darren spoke to her by cell phone! As if I wasn't impressed enough, already!!! This was truely a MySpace party! Thank you, Darren, for me and for Vivian, too!
