I was just thinking about the MTV awards 2007. I was hoping to blog about it the night of, but I found the hostess so crude I couldn't get into it.
There was one thing, however, that hung on my mind...the Sumo wrestler. I did not realize at the time, but they got that individual just for Gerry Butler! They knew he was a talker. Rather than let him go on & on, they made sure he knew to run when the Sumo was released.
I was talking to my friend and fellow author, Christine London (http://christinelondon.com), about it and she had found the story that the Sumo chased Gerard backstage. The Security people didn't know who he was and he was obliged to stay there - couldn't go back to his seat! The report she read said he spent the time with his fans that were there at the back stage door. What luck!!! But can you imagine the nerve? The guy was holding a golden popcorn trophy! Who else but an important star would be backstage with an award that wasn't supposed to be there?! Even if it's not true - isn't gossip cool? What a concept! What fun!
I say possibly not true because I have read much of the MTV awards website about the evening of the awards (http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1561564/20070604/story.jhtml ) and other reports make the first one hard to believe. I post it cuz others may find it fun or someone may get to the bottom of it and let us know what really happened.
