Doing research for a WIP (work in progress) about local werewolves, I found this legend of the Black Dog of the Hanging Hills.
I had just been reading about mental real estate and how it aids in sparking interest because an ‘educated’ audience is pre-sold, so having a spooky dog legend from a location I want to place a fictitious, scary dog story (eh hem, uh, werewolves) is so cool! Suffice it to say that I think I have found the perfect spot for my story. It has everything: wooded area of the eastern United States, near a college with a great library.
I had been kicking myself for starting the piece before I settled on these details. I firmly believe it is easier to do it right the first time, but I got excited and started without the full research. I simply thrilled it’s working out, in spite of myself :D
BTW, I didn’t post a photo of the Black Dog, just in case you may have already seen it…
